Children everywhere are being affected by cancer. They are watching their brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, and friends fight this horrible disease. This year, 11,050 children under the age of 14 (American Cancer Society) will be diagnosed with cancer and tens of thousands more will continue their fight of this disgusting disease.
Big Feelings.
Often times, children are thrown right into the cancer world with so many questions, worries, anger, fear and sadness. How do you explain this world to a child when the journey is so unknown? How do you empower children to have a voice and share through this scary time? How do you support all children to take action?

Super Scrubbles is a place where imagination helps explain the unexplainable. We created Super Scrubbles for children who are facing medical experiences, and for the families & friends trying to find the right words when real life feels overwhelming. Medical conversations can be confusing. They can be scary. For kids, they often raise more questions than answers. Super Scrubbles exists to meet children exactly where they are, using stories instead of fear and characters instead of complicated explanations.
Shared Journeys.
Together we can build Super Scrubbles into more than what we see right here today. All proceeds of every purchase from our Gift Shop will go directly to childhood cancer organizations, and into funding more Super Scrubbles content to bring year-round awareness.

Courtney Lynn Duran
Founder& Heart of Super Scrubbles
Courtney was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at just six weeks old and endured intense medical treatment throughout the first three years of her life. She has now been in remission for 34 years. Today, Courtney spends her time advocating for better treatments and volunteering at children’s hospitals, bringing compassion and understanding to families navigating medical journeys. Super Scrubbles has been her passion project for over ten years—born from firsthand experience with just how scary and overwhelming the cancer world can feel for a child. She created these characters with one hope: that they might bring comfort, understanding, and a little light to children who need it most. She knows what it’s like to be small in a very big medical world—and believes even the smallest story can make a meaningful difference.

Ant has spent the past 15 years working in animation production at Pixar Animation Studios and Netflix, bringing children’s stories and characters to life. His career has been rooted in imagination, detail, and a deep understanding of how audiences of all ages connect with visual storytelling.
His connection to the mission of Super Scrubbles began early in his relationship with his wife, Courtney. Through her and by joining her at Pediatric Cancer conferences, Ant learned the profound lasting challenges families experience during cancer journeys, and together they continue to navigate the ever-present side effects of her childhood therapies.
This reality hit devastatingly close to home when the lasting physical impacts of those early treatments led to the loss of their baby girl, Goldie, at birth.
For Super Scrubbles, Ant ensures that every story is led with profound empathy. He intentionally blends hard stories with joyful imagination because he believes that imagination itself is a powerful medicine, and there is comfort to be found in it. With his creative expertise and gift of grief, he intends to offer comfort, understanding, and hope to children and families navigating their own medical journeys.
Alexandra Hombs
Alexandra Hombs is a Kansas City–based illustrator and graphic designer with a passion for creating artwork that inspires imagination and connection. She loves bringing stories to life through expressive, heartfelt illustrations that encourage young readers to dream, explore, and see the world with wonder. This is her third illustrated children's book, and she hopes its pages offer comfort and encouragement to children and the families who share it together.
When she's not illustrating, Alexandra enjoys spending time with her husband, Trevan, and their two children, Crew and Indi, who inspire her creativity every day.

Emily Oh
Emily Oh is a Canadian story artist from London Ontario. Growing up in the countryside, TV, movies, and books became her window to the outer world. Her own spinoffs and stories inspired by the screen have kept her company and now she wishes to continue sharing stories that can comfort and make others feel less alone in this big world. Emily has contributed to productions for Netflix, Chick-fil-a, illustrated graphic novel The Secret Order of Librarians, and created stories for youth in STEM. Through whimsical and heartfelt storytelling, she aims to highlight underrepresented voices and create moments of human connection with her audience.
